One of the single best ways to push an issue to the front burner is through the media. Letters to the Editor provide a great public forum for the healthy debate of today’s hottest issues.

Using a coordinated strategy for distribution can effectively target all major daily newspapers throughout Michigan.

Please see below a number of sample Letters to the Editor regarding the need for increased transportation funding. In the column to the right of each sample letter is the key message we are trying to communicate.

We want our supporters and members to read the sample letter in the left column, note the key message and supporting bullet points in the right column and craft a letter in their own words, respecting the word count for the targeted daily paper. You can use as much or as little from the letters as you choose.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mike Nystrom or Keith Ledbetter at mikenystrom@mi-ita.com, keithledbetter@mi-ita.com or call the MITA office at 517-347-8336.

Sign the Petition

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) recently announced an online petition drive for citizens who are tired of driving on pothole-riddled streets. Although the petition is non-binding and will not change the law, the names of petition signers will be presented to state policymakers to demonstrate the level of support in Michigan for investing in our state’s infrastructure.
