Pictures and videos of potholes could lead to $370 for Michigan drivers who enter the Michigan Transportation Team's fourth annual pothole contest.

According to the MTT, the money award is about equal to the cost drivers pay for repairs and loss of time due to Michigan's dilapidated roads.

"It has become far too common for Michigan drivers to just grin-and-bear it as they hit pothole after pothole. We are trying to draw attention to these craters and let Michigan residents know they can do something about it,” said Keith LEDBETTER of the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA).

According to the MTT, this contest is a response to the lack of funding for the state's roads and the inability to obtain federal road funds, including a $2.4 billion reduction in funds from both state and federal governments.

Contest details and instructions are provided at www.drivemi.org, with contest winners being announced on April 12.

Sign the Petition

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) recently announced an online petition drive for citizens who are tired of driving on pothole-riddled streets. Although the petition is non-binding and will not change the law, the names of petition signers will be presented to state policymakers to demonstrate the level of support in Michigan for investing in our state’s infrastructure.
