Public Transit Moves our People

  • Over the past six years, the use of public transportation is up 22 percent in Michigan – more than vehicle miles traveled on roadways or airline passenger miles logged over the same period.
  • High gas prices spurred many Michigan citizens to try public transportation as a cost-saving move. Now many systems report that riders have stayed on, despite lower gas prices.
  • Michigan’s senior population is expected to increase 44 percent from 2000 to 2020.
  • Viable, accessible public transportation is essential for seniors to maintain their independence, physical and mental well-being, and even their residences.

Sign the Petition

The Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) recently announced an online petition drive for citizens who are tired of driving on pothole-riddled streets. Although the petition is non-binding and will not change the law, the names of petition signers will be presented to state policymakers to demonstrate the level of support in Michigan for investing in our state’s infrastructure.
